Tenancy Advice
TC Young is universally acknowledged as having an unrivalled understanding of Scottish Tenancy Law. We provide a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of tenancy management in Scotland and currently act for over 120 Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) in Scotland as well as private landlords, letting agents and local authorities.
· Tenancy management: We regularly advise landlords on issues arising from all aspects of tenancy management including antisocial behaviour, rent arrears, and repairs. We maintain close contact with relevant agencies including the Police and local authorities to ensure that we have the resources to provide full and comprehensive advice to landlords.
· Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) & Local Authorities (LAs): For RSLs and LAs, we are unrivalled in terms of the service we offer to clients in the field. We are involved in the entire spectrum of housing management including dealing with antisocial behaviour, factoring, rent arrears, succession, gas maintenance and service charges. We are always at the forefront of changes to the industry which allows us to offer a service to our clients that is unmatched by any other firm in Scotland. We offer regular new briefings updating you with any changes in legislation.
· RSL/LA training: We offer a comprehensive range of in-house training and seminars to ensure our clients are kept informed of the issues affecting them and to give them the essential tools to operate in their environment.
· Private landlord tenancies: For private landlords, we get involved at an early stage prior to the commencement of the tenancy. We can advise on all aspects of the tenancy agreement and recognise the pitfalls that may arise with a view to prevention. We also guide private landlords through the statutory obligations imposed upon them including landlord registration, energy performance certificates, licenses for HMOs, the Repairing Standard and gas and electrical regulations. Throughout the term of the tenancy, we can assist in managing issues that arise from all aspects of the operation of a private tenancy including antisocial behaviour, rent arrears and repairs.
· Private landlord training: We offer training for letting agents as well as a helpline service for general queries if required. We currently advise a number of agencies including Countrywide Lettings, Clyde Property and DJ Alexander and regularly carry out training sessions for Let-wise, Edinburgh City Council’s advice service for landlords.
