Andrew is TC Young’s Managing Partner and head of the litigation team. He is a highly experienced court lawyer, who is known for his “pragmatic” approach. With over 20 years experience of civil work and landlord and tenant issues, Andrew is again highlighted in the 2010 Chambers Legal Guide and has been recognised as ‘one of the strongest individuals in Scotland’. Acknowledged as a leading specialist in housing management, he is a regular contributor to seminars and conferences in this field. He provides advice and training to a wide range of Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), private landlords and local authorities.
He was recently involved in extensively revising a large number of Scottish Secure Tenancies for RSL clients and a variety of issues including anti-social behaviour, data protection and allocations.
Andrew is also the leading lawyer within TC Young for clients looking for assistance in procurement/contractual arrangements and implementing conditions in connection with Building/Maintenance contracts. He was heavily involved with the preparatory work involved in the LSVT transfer from GHA where he gave advice in relation to procurement and general contract issues; building contracts and collateral warranties.
Andrew has considerable experience in advising and representing clients on all aspects of civil work. Over the years this has involved advice and representation, including arbitration and mediation services in a variety of complicated contractual disputes, general contract law and representing staff at court where required as a result of any legal actions raised in the course of their duties.
Increasingly this has also included working alongside clients helping them to interpret CDM regulations and advising clients of the requirements under CDM regulations in the role of designer, client and CDM Co-ordinator.
