What we do

Employment Law

Our employment team provides advice and assistance in four core areas:

Representation at employment and appeal tribunals

We have a proven track record of defending our employer clients at tribunal, often in legally complex and high value claims. We focus on offering practical, commercial and strategic advice.

HR advice and guidance

Our team provides advice and guidance on a daily basis to senior management, HR departments and committee members as appropriate on such matters as internal disciplinary and grievance procedures, absence management, capability issues, data protection, disclosure and Schedule 7. We promote a culture of checking first. We keep our clients up-to-date with changes in the law and important case law developments. We are often asked to assist in the production of contracts, policies and handbooks. We work with our clients to achieve best practice and to avoid employment disputes.

Projects work

We have substantial experience of advising organisations in relation to transfers of engagements, mergers and group restructuring exercises, advising in particular on the effect of TUPE on contracts of employment, due diligence, harmonisation, equal pay and information and consultation requirements including preparation of guidance notes and presentations to staff and committee members, contracts and staffing structures as well as redundancy, termination packages and pension issues.

Training

We regularly provide tailor-made training for senior staff, line managers and committee members. We have been asked to provide training on topics as diverse as unlawful discrimination, vetting and disclosure, data protection, performance management, handling grievances and taking disciplinary action.
