Guide to the ‘Simple Procedure’ in Sheriff Courts

Simple procedure is a court process which was designed to provide a quick and inexpensive way to resolve disputes where the monetary value does not exceed £5,000. The Simple Procedure Rules were introduced on 28 November 2016 and since then all actions for payment of money for sums of £5000 or less must be raised via these rules.
