Catherine McQuarrie is an Associate in TC Young's Registered Social Landlord (RSL) Team.
She is recognised by the Law Society of Scotland as an accredited specialist in Housing and Residential Tenancy Law.
Catherine leads the Glasgow RSL team in housing litigation matters, dealing with the housing and debt recovery caseload. Having started her career as a civil court paralegal, she has developed a well-rounded knowledge of the legal issues which RSL and private rented sector clients face regularly through practical experience.
Catherine has been praised for “providing prompt advice” and for “excellent results”.
She has extensive experience in debt recovery, housing law, evictions, repossessions, sequestration and has worked with many well-known RSLs during her career.
Dealing with varied enquiries from clients on a daily basis, she gives advice on Scottish Secure Tenancies, Short Scottish Secure Tenancies, Shared Occupancy Agreements, notices, gaining access for inspections or repairs, abandonment, decanting, assignation, sub-letting and anti-social behaviour.
Catherine leads our Simple Procedure team who provide detailed debt advice and raise actions to recover debts for tenant arrears, former rent arrears, rechargeable repairs and factoring debts below £5000.
In addition, she provides advice on the Private Residential Tenancy (PRT) regime and drafting Private Residential Tenancies/Notices where required. She also represents clients at the First-tier Tribunal (Housing and Property Chamber).
She has provided both advice and training to RSLs on housing management and factoring matters.
Catherine regularly appears in sheriff courts throughout Scotland and is skilled in both negotiating settlements and conducting contested litigation.
