Douglas Collingham is a Partner in our Property Department. He advises on development site acquisitions and disposals; development site assembly; acquisitions and sales of commercial premises, investment properties, commercial leases, loan agreements and secured lending.
Working closely with clients they are able to benefit from his tremendous conveyancing experience (26 years) with 16 years in the affordable housing sector. Douglas is a lead member of the team dealing with shared ownership and shared equity sales, and mortgage to rent purchase transactions.
He advises on the securitisation of estates in favour of lenders including the adjustment and grant of Certificates of Title and Security deeds. He has long experience of acting for both lenders and borrowers. He advises on the negotiation and completion of loan agreements. He has completed loan agreements on behalf of several clients for facilities in the region of £9 million to £16 million comprising development and long term loans.
Douglas acted on behalf of several Registered Social Landlord clients in relation to the securitisation of many large estates which were the subject of Second Stage Transfers from Glasgow Housing Association. He carried out and also supervised a larger team carrying out the title audit work, the preparation of the security deeds and the provision of Certificates of Title to the various lenders to allow the release of loan funds.
In addition to private finance transactions, Douglas advises clients on lending and grant funding from other sources including local authorities and the Big Lottery.
